By the time you’re here you must have an idea about what cellulite is, but just to clear a few things out of the way, I’ll explain a little more about cellulite.
What is cellulite?
Cellulite is a type of fat that gets below someone’s skin and hinders the surface of the skin from looking smooth. Just in case you’re wondering, cellulite occurs in all women of different shapes, sizes and age. It is more likely to be found in people who have excess fat than it is in slim people.
Cellulite creates a dimply and lumpy flesh on the thighs, hips, bums and abdomen. It is common in women but men can get it too. You don’t have to feel embarrassed if you have it. The good news is, it’s completely normal and is not at all a medical condition.
What Causes Cellulite?
Cellulite is caused by age. As we grow older collagen, a protein fiber that helps to give the skin structure, strength and elasticity, decreases and the skin starts to sag.
The fat cells easily protrude through the connective tissues hence the cellulite.
Poor blood circulation causes cellulite as well because as blood flow becomes slower, nutrients are reduced which make the connective tissues weak.
Family history is another cause, and of course, weight. You are beautiful in your own skin, yes, but a healthy size is always more advisable.
The primary female sex hormone known as Estrogen is proven to cause cellulite because its levels affect women from puberty to pregnancy and the more it increases there is fat gain, reduced collagen and plumped up fatty issues that contribute to cellulite.
How To Get Rid Of Cellulite Fast?
You can reduce or completely get rid of cellulite while in the comfort of your home through practicing a few disciplines that require your full motivation, commitment and consistency! Remember, if it’s to be, it’s up to you Queen!
- Eat a Healthy Diet
What you feed on physically and mentally makes the person who you are. Reduce your intake of bad carbs. Bad carbs include; white bread, pizza, pastries, biscuits, cakes, sweets fried foods, processed foods and all fast foods.
Eating bad carbs increases the insulin levels which leads to an increase in fat production.
Avoid very salty snacks and limit the salt you put in that food, salt has sodium which builds fluid retention that will make your cellulite situation worse.
On the hand, stock your kitchen with good carbs such as; fruits, vegetables, whole grains, brown rice, whole oats, and other foods rich in vitamins.
Try eating healthy in order to avoid more fat retention by your body. Eat more healthy fats which are found in nuts, seeds and oily fish.
Healthy eating will enable your body to produce collagen and connective tissues which help in the fight against cellulite. Plenty of fiber and whole grain food remove waste and toxins from the intestinal tract.
2. Stay Hydrated
As obvious as it sounds, drink your water. Actually intentionally drink water. Water solves quite a number of things that concern our bodies and this is one of them.
8-10 glasses of water a day sound like a hectic job but you can start with 4 and watch how the habit grows if consistency is in the books.
Water limits the appearance of protruding cells and makes the skin smooth. Drink that water ladies!
3. Drink Green Tea
Most people take green tea to help with their weight loss journey. Green tea has been found to reduce body fat especially in the abdominal area.
It contains caffeine, and an antioxidant called catechin that speeds up metabolism of fat cells hence reduction of cellulite.
4. Exercise Regularly
As I mentioned earlier, all this requires a strong sense of commitment and consistency. Working out might not be your thing but you can start small.
You don’t have to do the most strenuous activity of them all. Here are some activities that will engage your body and shape up your muscles; Yoga, Cycling, Jogging if you’re not so into running, Swimming, Dancing (Zumba classes would definitely be the best idea here).
Squats, Jump squats and leg kickbacks are recommended as well. These can be done at home, so don’t worry about spending on a gym. You can download some fitness apps or watch fitness videos on YouTube. In just a few days or weeks you’ll start to notice changes in your cellulite affected area.
Body massages help the body and muscles to relax. What most don’t understand is that massage is therapy, not luxury.
During a massage session, blood flow and circulation is improved. The skin tissue is stretched, and this causes the cellulite to stretch out as well.
Massage stimulates the lymphatic system which breaks down fat cells and removes toxins. This is a very promising activity, which by the way, you can do at home. All you have to do is buy essential oils and learn a few tricks from the internet. If you feel like that’s a lot of work, visit a spa.
As you have seen, it is pretty easy to get rid of cellulite. Try incorporating two or three of these activities in your week and see how much progress you can achieve on your own.
All bodies are good bodies, be kind to yours even when there are some changes. Your body will forever be home. Take care of it with love and gentleness.
